CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT

A concussion is a brain injury caused by acceleration or deceleration of the brain within the skull following a significant impact to the head or elsewhere on the body. The impact causes a biochemical imbalance within the brain cells, resulting in decreased blood flow and temporary energy deficits within the brain. Symptoms may include loss of consciousness, headache, pressure in the head, neck pain, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, or balance problems, among others.

If you or a loved one has just sustained a concussion, please review this important information on what to do in the first 48 hours and call us at 905-628-1000 to book an evaluation.

We are a proud clinic of the Complete Concussion Management Inc. (CCMI) Partnership Program – a network of clinics around the world offering evidence-based concussion care.

From initial pre-season baseline testing to concussion treatment and rehabilitation, as partnered CCMI practitioners, we collaborate with primary care physicians to co-manage concussions, helping patients and athletes safely return to learn, work and play.

Baseline Concussion Testing:

Multimodal baseline testing is a series of physical and cognitive tests that measure healthy brain function before a sports season starts.

Concussion symptoms often resolve before the brain has fully recovered. Having baseline information provides healthcare practitioners with valuable insight into how your brain functions when healthy. After a concussion, this information helps to detect lingering deficits and brain recovery levels to make safer return to sport decisions.

We also offer private baseline testing to groups of 8 or more. Give us a call at 905-628-1000 to find out about our team and large-group pricing and booking options.

Concussion Treatment:

In conjunction with CCMI, we offer concussion treatment services and strategies including:

– Vestibular, oculomotor, and cervical spine rehabilitation

– Balance, reaction time, visual processing, and neurocognitive testing

– Educational resources

– Return-to-sport readiness testing and sub-symptom threshold exercise programs for persistent symptoms
